Solutions & deliverables

Scientific advisory
Scientific advisory

01

Scientific advisory

Review of polar science concepts, terminology and factual claims. A glaciologist checks that the science in narration, subtitles and graphics is accurate and easy to understand.

Example | Reviewing documentary narration on glacier retreat, sea ice and ice shelves, flagging common misconceptions and suggesting accurate wording.

02

Field perspective

Location and operational considerations within a defined scope, helping teams understand season, weather, wildlife and ice safety to plan workable filming.

Example | Advising on the right season and safe distances for filming polar bears or penguin colonies, and assessing the risks of setting up camera equipment on sea ice or glaciers.

03

Content

Existing photographs or footage, subject to ownership, consent and agreed licensing. Material covers Arctic and Antarctic wildlife, glaciers and expedition scenes, and can be discussed according to intended use.

Example | Photos or footage of calving glaciers, penguin colonies, polar bears and expedition camps, with licensing terms agreed separately for each use.

04

Story development

Expert interviews and evidence-led explanation where suitable, helping turn scientific content into stories audiences can easily follow.

Example | Helping turn scientific questions such as “why are glaciers retreating?” into story segments with characters and settings audiences can relate to.

CASE STUDY
Glacier Hiking & Blue Ice Cave Filming

Deep within Iceland’s remote highlands, glacier ice caves reveal striking blue formations, offering a unique yet challenging environment for documentary filming. PRECon supported the production through location scouting, aerial filming, advance route reconnaissance using Super Jeeps, and on-site logistics coordination, helping the crew access remote filming locations and carry out the shoot efficiently.
